I’m not a morning person. Not at all. Never have been and probably never will be. I don’t stay up late either. I like to call myself a day person.
As a result of not being a morning person, I have a hard time figuring out what to eat for breakfast. I’m not a big fan of breakfast food anyway and I don’t want to bother with anything that takes too much effort or thought. So I eat whatever’s easiest in the morning and that’s usually a bowl of cereal.
But sometimes I don’t want to eat another bowl of cereal. I want something different. But when I’m standing there in the kitchen trying to think of something, my brain doesn’t cooperate and I end up getting another bowl of cereal.
So to solve the “what should I have for breakfast” question, I compiled this list. It’s not meant to be exhaustive or imaginative. It’s just a list of ideas for breakfast so the next time I want something other than cereal, I don’t have to use my brain to come up with something. I can just look at the list. So here goes:
1. Cinnamon toast and a banana
Peanut butter toast
2. Tortilla with peanut butter, banana and honey
Peanut butter, raisin bran and honey
Peanut butter, apple, honey, shredded cheddar cheese
3. Grilled cheese.
4. Egg sandwich.
6. Waffles or pancakes. You can make them using a mix or reheat frozen waffles or pancakes.
7. Instant oatmeal, banana and milk.
8. Yogurt and fruit.
9. Muffins. (Obviously you have to make these ahead for it to be quick and easy.)
10. Scrambled eggs & toast.
Also, remember that you don’t have to eat breakfast food for breakfast. One of my favorite non-breakfast breakfasts is cold pizza. I’m also not opposed to other non-breakfast foods for breakfast.
And there you have it. Ten ideas for breakfast. Now share with me your breakfast ideas so we can add them to the list.
