5 Drugstore Discoveries I Can’t Live Without

Wouldn’t we all love to fill our makeup caddy with novelties from Sephora and line our bathroom counters with Redkin and Matrix?  Those items are wonderful but they are NOT budget friendly. Here are several items that will give your morning routine some new pizazz and not force you to take out a second mortgage.

Aussie 3-Minute Miracle – This is a deep conditioning treatment for dry damaged hair.  In case you didn’t know, pretty much EVERYONE could use this once-a-week boost.  User friendly, it can be applied in the shower, smells awesome, and at 3 bucks a pop, everyone wins.

Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer - This item has been a staple in my medicine cabinet since I was in high school and I have yet to find anything I like more – even department store moisturizers.  It’s just enough moisture to keep my skin from being tight and flaky and has a little boost of salicylic acid to treat and prevent breakouts.  You can find it at any drugstore for about 6 bucks.

Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream – I have used some high quality nail care products but nothing keeps nails and cuticles better moisturized than Burt.  I suggest applying every night before bed.  It smells amazing and lasts a very long time.  Find it atCVS or Walgreen’s for about 5 dollars.

Maybelline Falsies Waterproof Mascara – I finally found it!  I’ve been in search of a mascara to take the place of my favorite which happened to be discontinued several years ago.  This is just as good, if not better!  A large curved brush gives you immediate length, and with another layer or two, you’ll be ready for Broadway!  At a manageable 6 dollars and easy to get your hands on, you seriously can’t go wrong!

Dove Bar (sensitive skin) - Yes, yes  -it’s TECHNICALLY a bar soap but hear me out.  I started using this product at my doctor’s recommendation due to very sensitive skin.  What I discovered is that this soap comes in a bar but lathers and washes away like a liquid soap.  Lather up your sponge and you’ll find yourself in a creamy frothy wonderland.  I can even use it when I shave!  It’s under 2 bucks a bar and with one-quarter moisturizer and no fragrance, your skin and your wallet will thank you.

Come to my house and search my bathroom on any given day and I guarantee you’ll find every one of these amazing, affordable products.  Give these a try and let me know what you think!

I have not used my BB cuticle cream religiously because I’m just too forgetful, however I do love it! And I bought it in college and still have the same pot – yep, that was 10 years ago!

Definitely going to try the Aussie 3 minute treatment. This girl has DRY hair!

Also, you didn’t include the dry shampoo. I can’t live without that now. Love it.

  2. Thanks so much for these!!!! I’m always on the lookout for products that work well and are inexpensive. I’m definitely going to get that Clean & Clear moisturizer the next time I’m at the drugstore! And, I also love the Dove Sensitive Skin bar. This summer I had severe contact dermatitis on my hands and switching to this bar helped clear it up fast!

  3. I love the Burt’s Bees cuticle cream, too! I’ve even used it on my lips in a pinch- works great as a lip balm if you don’t have any chapstick handy!

  4. Ooh such a great post! I’m totally going to have to try the 3 minute miracle {totally necessary in the winter!} and I’m on the lookout for new mascara too, thanks for all the awesome tips! Stopping by from SITS, happy Saturday! :)

    • Thanks for stopping by, Amy. My daughter-in-law wrote the article and she really knows her stuff! Hope the 3 minute miracle works a miracle for you! :)

  5. I need that miracle conditioner, I have the driest hair!! Thank you for the tips! Visiting from SITS

  6. Thanks for these tips. I’m definitely going to try the three minute miracle, the lotion and the mascara.
