My husband eats a lot and likes to have healthy snacks available. Several years ago I found these two trail mix recipes in Food Network Magazine. He loved both of them! Even the grandkids love them. My 3-year old granddaughter, Ivy, has been asking for “papa’s trail mix”. She eats every bite of it!
When you make these or any trail mix recipes, keep in mind that you change them around to your heart’s content and they will be just as good. You almost can’t go wrong!
Almond Lover’s Trail Mix
-
1 cup cocoa dusted almonds
- 1 cup dry-roasted almonds
- 1 cup pitted dried dates, chopped
- 1 cup raisins (golden or regular)
- 1 cup prunes, chopped
- 1 cup dried apricots, chopped
Combine the ingredients in a large bowl. Store in an airtight container.
NOTE: I just made this the other day and I added Craisins and granola cereal.
Huckleberry Trail Mix
-
1 pound (4 cups) dry-roasted almonds
- 1 pound (4 cups) cashews
- 2 cups dried huckleberries or cranberries
- 1-1/3 cups M&M mini’s or semisweet chocolate chips
- 1-1/3 cups shredded coconut
Combine the ingredients in a large bowl. Store in an airtight container.

This is perfect for my husband! Cant wait to try them. Thanks!
Welcome! They really do taste good. And SO easy to put together!
These look great! My husband and I are in the process of getting ready for a 3 week roadtrip, and I’m already panicking that spending so much time in the car with all the easy fast food options will mean that our eating habits will go downhill. Thanks for the recipes!
You’re welcome. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your trip!
These sound really good but where do you get huckleberries?
No idea. I just used cranberries.
