In case you think the combination of apples and cheese sounds disgusting, let me assure you that it works in this bread! This bread is SO good!
Combine:
- 2-1/2 cups flour
- ¾ cup sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- ½ tsp. salt
- ½ tsp. cinnamon
Combine:
- 2 eggs, beaten
- ¾ cup milk
- ½ cup margarine, melted
Add to dry ingredients and mix well.
Stir in:
- 2 cups (8 oz.) shredded cheddar
- 1-1/2 cups peeled, chopped apples (I used two medium sized apples and ended up with 2 cups of chopped apple – I put it all in there and it was fine)
Spoon into greased and floured 9×5 loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 65 to 70 minutes (I checked mine after 55 minutes and took it out of the oven at 60 minutes – you can check it with a toothpick – if the toothpick comes out clean, it’s done).

Cheddar and apple – I have never thought of this combi before. Thanks for the share, I love bread (BIG carbs fan) and can’t wait to try this out. I have stopped baking for a while now but this sounds way toooo yumms.
I hope you love it as much as we do. It is such a good bread! It’s very hearty and filling. We eat it for breakfast, snacks and with meals.
