Cinnamon toast is, in my opinion, a comfort food. I grew up on it and I still love it.
My mom made it by toasting the bread, spreading it with butter, sprinkling some sugar and then cinnamon and then using the knife to gently combine the toppings. Yum. Makes me want some right now!
I made cinnamon toast for my kids that way for a long time. But then I discovered another way. I was making cinnamon rolls one day and realized the filling recipe would make a perfect topping for cinnamon toast. We gave it a shot and never looked back. Here’s the
Here’s the recipe:
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup flour
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- ½ cup margarine, softened
Beat together until combined. Store in refrigerator.
This yummy goodness can also be used with sliced apples or as a sweetener in your oatmeal. Oh, yeah – and as a filling for cinnamon rolls. I’ll share that recipe with you another day. In the meantime, enjoy your cinnamon toast!
