It’s Veg Time! And No, I’m Not Talking About Vegetables!

Veg time – ever heard of it?  It’s on my calendar every single day from about 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 or 10:30 p.m.  It’s my wind down time!  I’m surprised at the number of people who go, go, go and then go to bed without any wind down time.  I can’t do it!  Even if I’m out for the evening, when I get home, I need at least a few minutes of wind down time on the couch.

What do I do?  Whatever I want!  Usually my wind down time consists of quilting, reading, watching tv, and planning.  My husband also participates in veg time.  He likes to lay on the floor and stretch, read, and watch tv.  We also talk on and off during veg time.  By the time 10:00 or 10:30 rolls around, we’re ready for bed.  We’ve been having evening veg time for years.

I recently purchased a new tool to help me with veg time.  I found myself carrying a bunch of stuff to the couch every night – pens, pencils, paper, post it notes, calculator, Kindle, books, etc.  I got a small bin for toting all my supplies but it didn’t work out the way I hoped.  Then I stumbled across a craft tote at Wal-mart (about $19.95).  It has all the stuff I need and I just carry it to the couch with me.  It’s much less messy and everything’s in one place.

So if you don’t have a veg time each day, you might want to think about having one.  It’s a lifesaver for me.
