Here’s a fun recipe that makes a good dinner, lunch, appetizer or snack. It’s also begging to be modified. Instead of pepperoni, use ham to make Ham & Cheese Slices. Or go veggie and use green pepper slices, chopped broccoli, sun dried tomatoes, onion slices, and provolone. The sky’s the limit! Let me know what you come up with!
- 1 loaf (1 pound) frozen bread dough, thawed (I used pizza dough but I think bread dough would work better, possibly the Italian Bread recipe if you don’t want to use frozen dough)
- 8 ounces sliced pepperoni (slices work better than chopped pieces like I used)
- 8 ounces sliced provolone cheese
- 1 cup sliced jalapeno pepper rings (I omitted)
On a greased baking sheet, roll dough into a 15×12 rectangle.
Place half of the pepperoni lengthwise in two rows down center third of rectangle. Top with half of the cheese and peppers.
Fold one side of dough over filling.
Top with remaining pepperoni, cheese and peppers.
Fold remaining dough over filling; pinch edges and ends to seal.
Bake at 350 for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Slice and serve warm.
Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
