A couple of months ago I showed you the inside of my daughter, Rachel’s, Filofax. She’s always been a Franklin Covey classic vertical weekly kind of girl but she took the plunge and switched to a personal sized Filofax. Not only that, she decided she had so much to do that it was time to switch from the weekly pages to daily pages. So she designed a daily page and started using it.
It went really well at first. She was getting stuff done like crazy. But gradually something changed and she noticed she wasn’t using her Filofax as much and she wasn’t nearly as productive. And then, because she wasn’t using her planner very well, she became overwhelmed.
Overwhelm is never good so she figured out what was wrong. Daily pages were too much. She needed vertical weekly pages – not daily. So we created a personal sized version of the vertical weekly. Overwhelm went down. Filofax use went up.
If you’d like to download Rachel’s vertical weekly page, here are three sizes to choose from:
And the lesson learned:
If something works, stick to it. In Rachel’s case, the size of the planner didn’t matter but the format did. Now she has the best of both worlds – a portable planner (instead of the giant classic FC) and a format that fits her life. All is well.
