Let me start by saying that convenience is NOT overrated! Sometimes convenience is the deciding factor between doing the task at hand and skipping it because it is too much
trouble. Think about the things that are a real pain in the can to you, and as you read, start thinking about how you can make them easier to tackle.

Putting away the laundry had become a big issue for me because the kids’ clothes went upstairs, mine went on the main floor, and my husband’s clothes hung in the basement. Not worth the trouble. Plus, my kids are little enough that the only thing they do in their rooms is sleep . . . so going up to get their outfits for the day was just another pointless trip upstairs. To remedy this issue, we moved my daughter’s dresser into the corner of our bedroom. We now keep both kids’ clothes in there. Laundry is easier and dressing them is easier. SOLVED!
I also have very little space in my kitchen. I wanted my supplies close though so we put canvas bins on the shelves in our living room (the living room and kitchen are basically one big room) and I loaded the bins with baking supplies, spices, dish towels and rags. All
I have to do is walk a few feet to get what I need. SOLVED!

My mother-in-law keeps a dandy looking little hamper in the corner of her bedroom. It actually goes great with the décor and she keeps her sheets and pillow cases in it! When it’s time to change the sheets, they’re right there rather than down the hall in the closet. SOLVED!
What kinds of things do you deal with that can be fixed by stepping out of the box and being a little unconventional? Your home is YOUR home and don’t forget . . . you can do WHATEVER YOU WANT to make it work for you!

I’m new to this site so you may have already addressed the issue of socks but I’m a mother of 8 and have YET to find the remedy altho’ I have tried SO MANY different things. It seems like there’s a place in the dryer where all the socks go…I call it the Hozone. Not only do they disappear but they also get transformed…so crazy!!!
Thanks for commenting. I’ll see what I can come up with. I don’t have 8 kids but I have definitely dealt with the sock monster.
I think it eats nursing pads, too!! The best trick I’ve seen is a laundry or lingerie mesh bag to put all socks into. If you are disciplined enough to use it, you’ll never have lost socks again!!
Ashley suggested the lingerie bags, too. That’s a great idea.
You can use a pillowcase too if you don’t have a lingerie bag–just tie a knot in the top. Holds more too.
Great idea!
Your website is great! This post really caught my eye when I was searching around. Thanks for sharing it.
